Long-distance move from Moss Beach, CA to West Palm Beach, FL

I recently moved from Cali to Florida with Medal of Honor

The team was incredibly organized and made sure every step of the relocation went off without a hitch. They carefully packed and transported my belongings, paying attention to even the smallest details. What really stood out to me was their dedication to customer service. Every interaction felt personal, and the movers were not only professional but also friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Medal of Honor Moving

"Baffled" at the poor customer service.

Very disappointed with the interaction I had with MOH moving group. After doing research to compare costs for moving with a professional company vs DIY moving I have decided to move my few items across the country myself. Upon making this decision I texted MOH moving group to say "I appreciate you reaching out to me but I have decided to go a different direction with my move, so I no longer require your services." I received texts back and forth inquiring as to why I chose to do this instead of use a professional company and I explained that I understand the costs of a DIY move and that is the route I want to take, and no I did not choose to go with another professional moving company. I have included screenshots of the texts I received from the MOH representative, needless to say I was shocked at the tone and assumptions this representative was making. I grew up in a military family who has moved across the country countless times both DIY and using professionals and understand exactly the implications of doing it myself and how to move, pack, etc. I also was shocked at how personally this representative took my rejection of using their services, I had not even received an estimate yet or started any sort of professional relationship with this company. While I DO plan on doing this move across the country myself (much to the shock of this representative) even if I do change my mind in the coming weeks I know I will definitely NOT be using MOH moving group, and everyone who is considering them should know they do not treat their potential customers with professionalism.

After further review, we have come to the conclusion that our sales representative may have been a bit aggressive as far as conveying his perspective. His intentions were taken out of context. That day he spoke to a dispatch supervisor and confirmed that we had availability at a discounted rate for that route. He tried to explain that it would be more cost effective for us to assist in this move as opposed to doing the move personally. Again, we apologize for any misunderstanding whatsoever.

Never book them

Stay away from these scammers. They get you by telling you “ we use military vets”. Then they quote you a price BUT once Close to your home they call you with a higher price. I have pictures of my squished boxes & broken items. That are NOT the movers and sub job out to unprofessionals who by the way are Not military vets.

Moving with ease.

I have OCD so the moment my husband suggested a moving company I thought I was going to faint. After seeing great reviews, I agreed but with the condition that I wouldn't take my eyes off my stuff. Two weeks later I was biting my fingernails in anticipation of something, anything to happen while two guys I didn’t know moved my things. I was taken by surprise when they took such great care of every item and handled it with care. Needless to say, not a scratch anywhere. Next time I already know who I’m going to contact. (Oh and very polite!).

Pick these guys!

Medal of Honor Moving was a tremendous help in getting the entire contents of our home loaded up and on the road (and by “tremendous help,” I mean, “I didn’t have to lift a finger”). Their pricing was fair and there was no funny business — no hidden fees, and a clear-cut contract. They had me moved across the country and were right on schedule about it, too! I would highly recommend Medal of Honor Moving Group to anyone who needs movers that will go the distance. Thanks, you guys!

Excellent company for long distance move!

I had an excellent experience moving across state lines thanks to the team at Medal of Honor! I moved from Colorado to Montana, and the team made sure that everything was taken care of-- making the move simple and stress free. Their moving services are priced affordably with no hidden fees, surprisingly! In terms of customer service, the team at Medal of Honor went above and beyond to ensure that this transition was easy and convenient for me and my partner.
I will definitely call the medal of Honor team in the future if I ever need to move across state lines again! If you are making a big move, I can not recommend the team at Medal of honor enough!

You seem like you’re getting a good deal until it’s pick up day!

You seem like you are getting a great deal but at moving day, they will nickel and dime you for everything. BEWARE they do not own their own trucks and will hire another company that you are not aware of until the day of pick up. You do not get to pick which moving company and do not get a chance to look at that company’s reviews. I thought I was hiring Medal of Honor and find some unknown company knocking at my door. The movers themselves were fine but I blame Medal of Honor of the lack of communication. Kris bane was only interested in getting me to sign that contract then really explaining the extra fees. I will never trust this company again!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4000

Official company response

I am very confused about this claim. The customer mentioned that she was satisfied with the movers at pickup. We are proud to say that each crew assigned are professional and background checked. We strive to provide the best service and communication as possible. The customer was charged a shuttle fee due to the distance from the truck to the residence but was discounted from $450 to $300. It is not our intention for any customer to incur additional charges. Our crews work extremely hard to provide quality service and if possible provide discounted rates for additional services if needed. If the customer was not satisfied with the discount provided feel free to contact us on our customer service line at 844-677-4836 we will do everything in our power to come to a happy medium.

Horrifying Customer Service.

Called at the last minute to change the date of the move - after I called to make sure they are showing up. All they were worried about was making sure I had their payment. No response to my concerns - HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was told I would get my items in 7-10 days. No one will give me a date of when I can get my items back. I'm still waiting to see if I'm ever going to get my stuff?

Awesome movers!

I normally do not write reviews at all, but I have had so many issues with movers in the past I figured it would be worth it to write a review when I actually had a positive experience. From start to finish it was a very smooth process. I made sure my inventory was accurate and the representative went over all fee that could apply to my move. Overall amazing experience, movers were great and customer service was great.

CA to FL.

I looked for a moving company for a couple months to move from our LA house, to our new home in WPB. It was a 3bed so I was terrified something would go wrong (we have a lot of items and valuables). I ended up getting a few quotes from other companies, but chose this one. Michael was very thorough, answered all the questions I had, helped understand the whole process, since I was freaking out lol and made me feel safe with that decision. The actual move went smooth. They made sure to get in touch with me all the time, I didn’t have anything damaged, the movers set up the furniture for me in the new home like I needed them to.. all in all, I’d say go for it.

Very unprofessional moving practices.

The Medal of Honor moving company is awful. I told them I had a 3 bedroom 2400 sq foot house an they show up with a small truck not able to hold all my furniture an then said it was my fault an wanted to charge me 3000 more. An we had to make another trip to get the rest of our furniture. A 10 hour trip one way. DO NOT USE. I don’t think they have any thing to do with veterans as they claim.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5400

Official company response

After further review, I am a bit perplexed about this claim. The customer was quoted at 1,318 cubic feet at a total cost of $4,834.72. We picked up 1,700 cubic feet which is about 400 cubic feet over what was obligated. The additional cost was only $666 for the additional cubic footage. There was no additional cost of $3,000 as stated in the claim above.

The crew arrived on time and delivered in a timely manner. Also, the crew arrived before the customer at delivery destination and charged no additional cost for the wait time. That being said, our goal here is to provide satisfaction to each and every customer even though we may be in disagreement.

A portion of our profits go to the Wounded Warrior Project but we are able to provide the customer with some compensation. Feel free to contact us on our customer service line at 844-677-4836. We will do everything within our means to come to a happy medium. I Await to hear back from the customer.

The Most Horrible Move Imaginable!!

There is not enough space on here to sufficiently describe our move. We moved from Chicago to Austin and they changed the pickup date twice before they even showed up. It was supposed to be a DIRECT move yet that is NOT what they told the carrier and we didn't receive our furniture until 8 days later. They even put it in writing and still didn't honor what they said.

1. Lowball estimate just to get our business. The cost increased by $3,000 even though we sent them an itemized inventory list beforehand. We refused to pay them 3 grand more when it was a nightmare even at that point. We rented a truck and my husband drove the remaining items hisself.

2. The moving crew that showed up was 1 grown adult and 4 or 5 teenagers. They had no tools and my husband had to assist them. The crew that showed up when they finally delivered our stuff consisted of a middle aged married couple and that's it. My husband had to unload the truck with them to get it done before midnight.

3. They lied to us repeatedly about our belongings and how long it would take to get them. The trip was supposed to be 3 days. We had no clothes, dishes, sheets, etc. We slept on the floor for 6 nights while receiving some of the most horrible customer service imaginable. I was on the phone crying because I had a job interview with no clothes to wear to it and then had to go on a scheduled overseas trip with little more than the clothes on my back. Come to find out, the truck was literally sitting in a warehouse the majority of the time.

4. We packed our stuff very well with bubble wrap, etc and stuff was still broken. Some of my grandfather's vinyl records are broken and can't be replaced. You can tell the containers were dropped and/or just thrown on the truck. I am also missing a box of my clothes and the frame for my son's bed is missing. Plus we have a box of books that actually don't even belong to us.

We were trying to support this business but you should pick someone else. ANYONE else.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7995

Official company response

After reviewing the Bill of Lading and the initial contract you agreed upon was for 1,947 cubic feet at a total cost of $7,995. When the carrier arrived he noticed that your items would exceed the estimated cubic footage amount and provided you with 3 options the first option is to take the 1,947 cubic footage that was quoted at the same cost, 2nd option was to take additional cubic footage at a discounted rate for $3,000 and the 3rd option was to be responsible personally for the remaining cubic footage. You chose the 3rd option. As far as delivery the estimated window for delivery from Chicago to Texas is 3-10 business days. Based on your claim above you received your items within 6 days after pickup. We try our best to accommodate each and every customer based upon their needs but due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather, traffic, etc. etc. It's very seldom that we find ourselves falling short. You have been approved for compensation in regards to delays please contact us on our customer service line at 844-677-4836 also if you haven't already started the claim process for damages reach out to us so we can assist you with that as well.

Horrible Customer Service.

This icompany is a broker. Their customer service is completely lacking, not customer friendly, and, quite frankly useless.

It took multiple calls to all of the various phone numbers (including a wrong # provided by the Quality guy) to get a pick up date for a small amount of goods being shipped from FL to SC (this was not a complete move). After finally getting a pick up date, they could not tell us when the shipment would even leave Florida, as it was not a full truck load.

The shipment did leave and was delivered to our daughter, BUT there was only one guy with the truck who did not put the bed together and could not get another piece of furniture upstairs by himself, and thus had to gain help from a family member. THIS IS A DIRECT VIOLATION OF THEIR CONTRACT!

Because our shipment was small, we were told there would be a reduction in the final payment based upon the weight, but the driver demanded full payment IN CASH (with a 90 minute delivery notice on a Sunday) before unloading the truck.

Tried to reach our sales person today, as I am seeking a partial refund. He referred me to their customer service # but naturally they did not answer the phone and I had to leave a message.

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS COMPANY AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Reminder, that all calls are recorded and all outbound/incoming are documented. We have spoken to the carrier and he is in disagreement of what was stated in this review. With that being said the customer has been approved for compensation please contact our customer service line at 844-677-4836. We are confident that we can come to a happy medium to rectify the situation.

Medal of Honor Moving Group.

From the first call for an estimate, to having them move my belongings, I have been more than impressed! They were courteous, well mannered, and treated my belongings with respect. Not only that, but they are decently priced, much better than most moving companies. Also, the fact that they support our Military is an A+ in my book. I know how frustrating moving can be, let alone having to hire a moving company, but I would recommend Medal of Honor Moving Group to anyone! Scam Alert..RUN..don't walk.

See if my review sounds like anyone else's you read and you'll know exactly why you should avoid these scam artists.

Moved from the Northeast to Florida

1) Ben J the sales rep was terrible. Lied saying he was with one of the larger national brand names, quoted me a protected price of $3,100 after taking a detailed invintory of my belongings over the phone, and then avoided all of my calls the day of pick up when the moving company jacked the price.

2) After the moving company arrived 2 hours late, they tried to jack the price up by $1000.

3) After being promised delivery on a specific date, both the moving company and Medal of Honor Moving brokerage both sited a law/regulation that states a moving company has a 7-15 day window for late deliveries. (Imagine being excited to close on your new house only to learn you won't have your belongings for over a week.)

This is a horribly unscrupulous firm that insults men of true honor. Aviod at all costs.

Helpful hints:
1) The large reputable national brands will never ask for a deposit upfront.

2) The large reputable brands will send out someone to evaluate honestly what your price will be.

3) Be sure to read reviews on the internet.

4) Check the BBB and verify licensing.

Hope this helps save someone time and money.

I initially used the fake name Sal Smith to protect my identity online. After reading Metal of Dis-Honors repeated comments, I am willing to share my real name which is Steve C. I do this in hopes of protecting future families from having the terrible experience I had. there is no excuse for making promises on the phone, collecting their cut upfront, having the movers jack up the price without proper evaluation and then delivering 5 day's after the promised date.

Lastly, in order to have this comment published, mymovingreviews.com mandated that I provide them with the initial invoice and final delivery paperwork to prove I actually conducted business with Medal of Honor. The paperwork also proved the hike in price and late delivery.

Long-distance move from Washington DC to Maine

Awful experience.

Estimate from Medal of Honor Moving is $1600 with 200cf. Sub-contracted company that did the actual move, CR7 Moving & Storage price came to $2826.25 with 425cf. Several days prior to the move, I asked MOH Moving if the estimate needed revising because we needed to add 5 items. I was told ‘no,’ by the salesman because we didn’t use as many boxes as listed in their estimate. This turned out to be the basis for the extra cubic feet involved. (The items weren’t large. The extra items were a stick vacuum, 2 standard sized suitcases, a wire plant stand, and a small bedside table.) I also texted a detailed list with all measurements of items to be moved along with pictures to our salesman and their moving estimator 3 days prior to the move and I was told nothing needed to change as far as price.

This move had to happen on specific dates. Salesperson stated twice in writing that this move was ‘easy’ and would happen as planned. Day of the move and no call from movers. Call MOH Moving and was told by customer service that the move is happening on different dates than needed, and that I signed a contract showing a 2-day window. I explained that I had in writing - twice - from their salesman that the move would happen on specific dates and customer service said that wasn’t allowed. All she kept talking about was the contract that I had signed, not about what the salesman had agreed to.

I have written a letter and spoken with customer service about this move asking for a refund, and I was told over the phone a refund wasn’t an option because “the move happened.”

I have filed a complaint with the USDOT regarding this move. So many things that went wrong that shouldn’t have.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1600

Official company response

The customer agreed to a pickup window of November 8th and 9th we have signed documentation that clearly states that. The customers quote that she agreed upon was based on 200 cubic feet for $1,600.

When the carrier arrived the customer had more items which equals more cubic footage and an additional cost. Based upon the Bill of Lading signed by customer at pickup she had 425 cubic feet which is more than half of what she was quoted. If you do the math double would be equivalent to $3,200 not $2,826.25 as outlined in customer's claim written above. So the total cost of the move was discounted by $374 not including 25 extra cubes which is equivalent to $125 give or take. So now we are looking at a move that was discounted around $500 from my perspective as a manager that is extremely reasonable.

Our crews work very hard to provide quality service and it is not fair for them to load and unload additional items at no cost whatsoever.

Long-distance move from Exeter, NH to Thornton, CO

Unexpected increase on day of pickup.

My daughter moved from NH to Colorado in December. I searched online for a good Move Company and was quoted the best deal by Medal of Honor. I was even happy because my dad was a veteran, but that was a mistake. When I called for the quote, the sales guy Mike Scott was a typical salesman telling me that the cost he quoted was the best. I told him I would be getting quotes from others now that I had an idea of the cost and he told me not to waste my time. I was quoted $1,682.72 after my daughter gave him a list and size of the inventory. It was a small move.

The movers showed up on 12/5 four hours late and immediately I was asked for a copy of my quote as boxes were already put on the truck, the guy tells me my quote was way too low. New price increased to $3,716.00. I was in shock!! He said because MOH did not send someone to take inventory it was quoted for a smaller space! MOH never even suggested on coming by to look at inventory and said the size he quoted would be correct.

I called customer service as the movers were loading and I got no help other than they would review and get back to me. If I canceled move, I was told I would have to pay a cancellation fee and other charges for the truck to drive from NJ to NH to get my stuff and we needed to move. I was trapped!!

Customer Service called a month later after I kept following up saying there was nothing they could do. I plan on taking this further, but wanted to write this so others are not trapped like me and others who have had complaints. DO NOT USE THIS MOVER! It is a broker and not the actual moving company!! BEWARE!!

Move size: Studio Service cost: $3716

Official company response

I carefully reviewed and investigated this claim to the fullest degree. The original quote was based on 158 cubic feet, when the driver arrived there were more items than the initial quote the cubic footage tripled to 450 cubic feet as opposed to the original quote of 158 cubic feet.

Unfortunately, we cannot expedite 450 cubic feet 2,009 miles at the same cost of 158 cubic feet. I do realize that you felt you were in a situation that was out of your control and that you needed to be out.

Due to that fact, I will gladly provide some compensation out of the respect and empathy I have for our customers feelings. Feel free to contact our customer service line at 844-677-4836 we will be waiting on your call.

Reminder, every customer of Medal of Honor Moving Group is important and we take into consideration every aspect of your move in its entirety.

Pre-Move Issues and Resolutions.

MHMG assisted me when I underestimated my move from Arizona to Arkansas. I am a 100% Disabled Veteran with TBI / cognitive issues.

When I contacted MHMG the representative listen to my needs and walked me through the process. We went from room to room (via phone) and I disclosed all the items to be moved. I was quoted a fair price for the footage and move. While packing I realized I under estimated me belongings and forgot to include my garage belongings.

I had already signed the estimate and before I realized my mistake. I had also for got about the extra old and new residential costs I had to cover and an auto payment.

I attempted to contact the customer support several times during the night with no response.

I did get a prompt call back in the morning and I explained the issue and the my financial issue. MHMG listen to my concerns and assisted me in developing a move that was above and beyond the requirements and obligations of their Company.

Thanks to the staff who listed, understood and helped develop a move that did not exceed the funds I had available for this move, I was able to continue my contract.

My move date is approaching, so I can't review the movers, and I will post a review after this move process is complete.

Again, the MHMG Company staff, were exceptional in assisting this Disabled Veteran when I needed the support.

Stay away SCAM.

This company is a complete scam. We have been waiting for more than 24 hours for pick up. They never confirmed or showed up on 3/14 the first day (which is the pick up date in the contract). Later they called and confirmed that they will show up between 4 AM and 6 AM on 3/15. We stayed awake and now it’s 7:36 AM no one showed up or called and no one answers from customer care.

Save yourselves the time and the money and get another moving company. If you get a quote from elsewhere and the contract they send has this Medal of Honor logo STAY AWAY. Horrible experience so far and I haven’t even had a pick up.

Official company response

To everyone who is reading this claim.
The customer was scheduled for a 2 day pickup window which was March 14th and March 15th the dispatch called 24 hours prior to the 1st scheduled move date and told the customer that the pickup would be between the hours of 4-6 p.m. on the 15th.

We do not pick customers up between the hours of 4-6 a.m. due to noise ordinance laws. After 20 years of being in this business I have never heard of any customer being picked up within that time frame.

First of all it is very disrespectful, I am apologetic that the customer had confusion with the time difference. There are numerous reasons why would never pick a customer up within the time frame of 4-6 a.m. for example awakening the neighbors, customers could have children, and how suspect would it look for a moving company to be moving furniture out of a home at that time of the morning. We received a call from the customer at 9:30 a.m indicating she wanted to cancel her move and that she had found another company. That cancellation derailed a perfect route to Texas. The customer would have received their belongings within 3 to 4 days of pickup. Due to the cancellation, we now have to explain to all the other customers in that route that they will be delayed.

Long-distance move from Dobbs Ferry, NY to Sanibel, FL

Company tried to extract additional money at time of delivery.

I signed a binding estimate (similar in amount to what I had received from other companies) to move an antique secretary from a house in a suburb of NYC to a house in Florida. Medal of Honor was given a photograph of the item, its measurements, and an accurate description of the pickup and delivery particulars. The price I was quoted ($1,100) was for a minimum weight and volume, which my item was way under. I was unable to reach my Medal of Honor salesman after I signed the binding estimate. At the time of delivery (I was given less than 24 hours' notice), the pickup and delivery company, CR7, told me that I would have to pay the remaining amount of the contract plus an additional $1,500. When I protested, the additional amount increased to $2,500, and I was told that if I didn’t pay, my item would be taken to the company’s warehouse in New Jersey where it would be stored at my expense. When I called Medal of Honor Customer Service, a surly young woman supported the additional charge. She offered a compromise price of $1,000 over the binding estimate. It was only because I was able to contact a friend who happens to be an expert in long distance moving that I succeeded in taking delivery of my item at the contracted price.

I am not sure who the guilty party is: CR7 (the pickup and delivery company) or Medal of Honor (the broker) or whether they are both in cahoots. My experience appears to be similar to what others have experienced.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $1100

Official company response

After receiving and reviewing documents, we have come to the conclusion that the customer signed a revised contract for 300 cubic feet as opposed to the 100 cubic feet she was quoted for. Also due to the handling of these particular items the carrier had to properly secure items with additional packaging and wrapping which increased the cost. There is also a bulky fee applied due to the fact we were unable to stack anything on top of the customer's items on the truck. As the customer mentioned in the claim above we were able to provide her with a discount. It is our goal to be reasonable with each and every customer even though the task may be challenging.

Long-distance move from California to Pennsylvania

Dishonest and rude.

They made a poor (and low) estimate on the phone, arrived and told us it was more than 3x the amount of the estimate, and then repeatedly made rude comments (various people on the phone, customer service, warehouse manager) trying to tell us we messed up and were stupid for misjudging the amount of stuff we had. We anticipated having more than the estimate, but more than 3x? One person even threatened to sue us (over what, I have no clue). They are so rude and dishonest. They even implied that we were too poor.

One of the movers seemed to fake a call to the warehouse to make it seem like his hands were tired.

An awful experience during the COVID-19 pandemic that is already stressful. DO NOT USE THEM.

They took our deposit because of the wording in their contract so took money from us for doing absolutely nothing. They continued to call us after we cancelled and decided to give our info to a bunch of other moving companies (perhaps associated with them?) and now we won't stop getting calls and texts.

A messed up company. They should not be allowed to get away with acting like this. Given how stressful things are right now with the pandemic and unemployment, you'd think they might have some empathy and speak nicely--even if they couldn't change the cost. In fact, while my wife and I were distraught at the huge cost increase, we still might have used them if they weren't so rude. It felt like they were trying to intimidate us. They are a scam and deserve to be taken to task.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $945

Official company response

After further investigation we have concluded that the initial estimate had a total of 72 items and when the crew arrived the client had a total of 217 items. We tried to negotiate a fair and reasonable price for the customer but we were unable to come to a happy medium. We incurred expenses due to the fact that we have driven several hundred miles and reserved ample space for the customer's belongings. Due to the cancellation, the route that was strategically planned in advance fell apart affecting other booked customer's along the way. The customer's signed and a greed to a contract with 72 items provided to sales representative and unfortunately it was off by a drastic amount. Even though the discrepancy does not lye on Medal of Honor we are proudly able to provide the customer with up to 2 years to utilize the deposit. Meaning any family or friend will be able to use that credit. If there are any further questions or concerns feel free to contact our customer service line at 844-677-4836.
